We’re quickly approaching that time of year—ice derby season. These competitions are a fun way to put some money where your mouth is and possibly win some cash and prizes.
Here’s a list of some February and March ice fishing derbies in southern Manitoba.
February 23. Lake of the Prairies Ice Fishing Derby

Lots of great prizes to be won here! Check out the Facebook Page for all the details.
February 29, Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby

Here’s an interesting derby. The LDB derby has prizes for secret fish lengths and times caught. Basically, you could catch a dinky little perch and walk away with $10,000.
Last year’s derby saw a record 143 fish caught, which is pretty great for a derby in a concentrated area. Head to their website to find out more, and go win some money!
March 18, Dauphin Lake Ice Fishing Derby

Another upcoming ice fishing derby in Manitoba takes place at Dauphin Lake. $100 gets you two holes and a chance to win $25,000. First place is a whopping ten grand! If you’re from Winnipeg, the three hour drive could pay off.
March 21, Falcon Lake Winter Fishoff

This popular derby puts up some serious prizes, including:
$15,000 cash, an Enns bros quad, a 2020 Can Am Outlander 450, and an Alumacraft 1436 Jon Boat with Mercury 4hp and Karavan Trailer Package.
Those are the big ones, but there are also tonnes of smaller prizes to be won. What are you waiting for? Head to the derby website to enter!
These are just a few of the major ice fishing derbies in Manitoba for 2020. Many small communities and First Nations have their own. If you’ve been feeling like a fishing pro lately, you might as well get out there and try to win some prizes. I’m gonna try to make a few of these derbies myself, so if you see me, come say hi!
